With the upper limits of performance and price seemingly evaporating into thin air, the race is on to produce the most outlandish supercars, stamped with an aura of exclusivity thanks to brand tie-ins and ultra-low production runs.

The established high performance players are also being challenged from the luxury end of the market, as companies like Jaguar and Bentley hone their cars to deliver hitherto unprecedented levels of power.
