Young Shanghai-based studio, Linehouse Architects have designed a playfully outlandish fast food chain in the city’s South Bund neighbourhood. Called Lone Ranger, after the project’s Wild West theme, the new hotdog restaurant is dressed predominantly in timber with custom-printed tiles, that wrap around the counters and floors, featuring an arrowhead motif. Meanwhile, two rows of large Edison globe lights are suspended from a woven rope that hangs lightheartedly from the mustard yellow ceiling like a lasso. This being Shanghai, diners at the counter, are treated to a view of the city’s ever-expanding Pudong skyline while tucking into a variety of unusual hotdogs and corndogs with names like Django (pork and pepper) or Zorro (pork and vanilla).
