Fab 40: Longva Architects, Norway
A practice working on a variety of public commissions and private houses, Longva Arkitekter is headed by Knut Longva, overseeing a small and flexible team of eight.
The Oslo-based firm has just completed three big commissions; the low-rise container-style HQ for Norway’s Accident Investigation Board in one of Oslo’s industrial areas; offices for the Norwegian Defence Medical Services, a simple building featuring raw materials and including interior woodwork which references back to the traditions of Scandinavian Modernism; and an elegant pre-patinated Nordic Brown-coloured copper extension for Oslo’s National Library.
More projects are currently on the drawing board, including, sports, education and public work, all in a true Scandinavian spirit of bespoke and well-thought out sophisticated simplicity.
