'Hort' is a German word for kindergarten, which perfectly sums up the graphic design studio's playful attitude to its craft - also shown in the collage-style images it supplied for our cover application. Founded by Eike Koenig in 1994 (originally under the name Eikes Grafischer Hort), Berlin-based Hort's projects range from illustrations for Wallpaper* and creating the interior of a hotel for Volkswagen's Project Fox to campaigns for Nike and Universal Music. Hort is a big proponent of doing things by hand, which made it an apt choice of collaborator for our August issue.
