Momentous photography print sale raises funds for Elmhurst Hospital in New York
A group of top editorial and art photographers unites with a sale of prints to raise funds for Elmhurst Hospital Center in NYC, aiding the fight against Covid-19

One hundred and eighty seven photographers have rallied together to contribute prints for the ‘Pictures for Elmhurst’ initiative, in aid of Elmhurst Hospital in New York. Available online and on sale until Monday 20 April, the prints cost $150 and the photographers involved include Alec Soth, Brigitte Niedermair, Carmen Winant, David Lynch, Estelle Hanania, Eva O’Leary, Jamie Hawkesworth, Jack Davidson, Jochen Lempert, Martin Parr, Massimo Vitali, Rachel Rose, Shaniqwa Jarvis, Sophie Green, Thomas Demand, Tyler Mitchell, Yelena Yemchuck, Zoe Ghertner, and dozens more.
Elmhurst Hospital, one of the oldest in New York, is located in Queens and has been hard hit with Covid-19 patients. Since early April, the facility has been struggling to keep up with the demand for medical equipment and staff, both of which are in short supply across the New York state area. Pictures for Elmhurst will help to fund the desperate need for these medical supplies.

‘Long time Wallpaper* collaborator Brigitte Niedermair’s offering has a very personal touch and shows us something very different from her editorial practice. A selection of images from her Instagram which is dedicated to her view and an homage to Nicéphore Niépce’s View from the window at Le Gras (1826) feels very appropriate given our current circumstances,’ says Wallpaper’s Photography Director, Holly Hay.
‘Another friend of Wallpaper*, Massimo Vitali presents a scene of pure escapism. The simple pleasure of families gathered in the sea in the summer suddenly feels all the more exotic and precious,’ Hay adds. ‘It is inspiring to know that such talented photographers and artists "have our back" and are keeping our staff and community in mind during this terribly difficult time,’ says the team at Elmhurst Hospital.
