Ceramica Cielo’s latest washbasin is inspired by the Bauhaus
Marcel is Ceramica Cielo's latest washbasin design, created by the brand's artistic directors Andrea Parisio and Giuseppe Pezzano
Merging top class bathroom design and interior inspiration is Ceramica Cielo’s Marcel washbasin, a new piece that blurs the boundaries between the bathroom and the rest of the home with a thoughtful material palette and details inspired by traditional furniture manufacturing.
Conceived by the brand’s artistic directors Andrea Parisio and Giuseppe Pezzano, the new piece is inspired by the Bauhaus, its name being a tribute to Marcel Breuer and his use of bent steel and Vienna straw in his furniture designs. These design inspirations merge with Ceramica Cielo’s signature minimalism, defined by lightness and functionality.
The Marcel washbasin combines the woven Vienna straw panelling with a bent ash structure, while the ceramic basin features a soft geometric form that matches the furniture design. The set is available in two distinctive colour palettes inspired by land and sky, with a natural wood option paired with white ceramic, and a darker, black-stained version with matte grey ceramic basin.
The collection is completed by a matching wall-mounted mirrored cabinet, featuring a bent ash frame and side panel that once again uses the Vienna straw as a unifying element.
Say its creators: ‘Marcel is a true style manifesto, a further declination of the creative language of Ceramica Cielo, a harmonious synthesis of refinement and contemporaneity, of attention to detail and high quality standards, values that make our company a symbol of Made in Italy excellence throughout the world.’
This new piece is a fitting continuation of the company’s legacy: evolved from a family of potters operating in Italy since the late 19th century, through its products and collections, Ceramica Cielo has always looked for innovation and originality, combining design and craftsmanship to create thoughtful collections that make the bathroom the centre of the home.
The Marcel washbasin will be presented alongside the new Ceramica Cielo collection during Salone del Mobile 2022.
