In a market flooded with all manner of wireless, Bluetooth-enabled audio devices, it's no mean feat to create a sound solution that stands out from the crowd. However, Hong Kong-based industrial designer Michael Young and Italian audio brand Brionvega have done just that with the launch of WearIt, a new portable speaker design that expertly pairs the past with the present.

Inspired by one of the Italian brand's earliest products – the TS 207 portable radio designed by Rodolfo Bonetto – the new rechargeable, wireless design comes with a matching stitched leather carry case that blends the history of the brand with cutting-edge technology.

'The Bluetooth market is a very busy one and my office was lucky enough to work on this technology when it was invented several years ago,' explains Young. 'Defining a product can be a challenge when there are so many players but the legacy of Brionvega transcends that. I have been a fan of the brand since I discovered design so to get involved in this project has been nothing short of an honour and a great pleasure.'

As well as its excellent style credentials, WearIt offers high fidelity wireless sound with dual high performance drivers and a tuned radiator for deep bass. It can also be connected up to a mobile phone and used to make hands free phone calls thanks to a built-in microphone. For those looking to up their audio experience to the next level, the speaker can pair up with another WearIt to create surround sound.
