ASVOFF 5 - A Shaded View on Fashion Film festival, Paris
'Hors d'oeuvre', by Monica Menez for Goldknopf Couture, which won the A Shaded View on Fashion Film (ASVOFF) prize for Best Art Direction
The world’s first annual film festival dedicated to fashion, style and beauty continues to shake up the old rules of fashion by shifting the focus from still photography to moving image. The fifth edition of A Shaded View on Fashion Film (ASVOFF 5) took place at Centre Pompidou in Paris.
The brainchild of legendary fashion journalist, Paris-based Diane Pernet (of cult blog A Shaded View on Fashion), ASVOFF has become a leading event on the international fashion calendar, featuring films by the likes of directors Sofia Coppola and Jim Jarmusch and procuring brands and designers from Alexander McQueen to Louis Vuitton and Richard Nicoll. ‘There’s no doubt in my mind that this has been a watershed year for fashion film and that we’ll see it boom and blossom in the year ahead,’ says Pernet.
With a panoply of short films (each 30 seconds to five minutes long) all vying for a series of coveted awards from the Emerging Talent prize to Best Art Direction and Best Styling, ASVOFF 5 has also attracted a stellar list of judges such as Style.com editor-at-large Tim Blanks and W magazine editor-in-chief Stefano Tonchi.
The event, which took place over three days from 9 - 11 November, covers all aspects of the film spectrum from cult and vintage screenings, documentaries and a selection of feature-length movies.
'The Ever Changing Face Of Beauty' (for W Magazine) by Sølve Sundsbø
'Watermarked' (for Kenzo) by DIS was a joint prize-winner in the Best Advertising category
'Morphe' (for Aesop) by Lucy McRae was a joint prize-winner in the Best Advertising category
