Bottega Veneta roller skates make for fast lane fashion
We're in the right gear for living in the fast lane

After endless months in lockdown, it’s safe to say that as we finally re-emerge, we’re keen to wear pieces that don’t slow us down, but instead encourage us, metaphorically speaking, to hotfoot it to better days. As part of the pre-A/W21 collections, a host of Bottega Veneta’s footwear offerings conveyed this mile-a-minute message with a glamorous gait, from practical wellies in glittering rubber to chunky clogs with tyre track soles. But none did it more so than the Italian brand’s ready-to-race roller skates.
Bottega Veneta roller skates: designs not just for the roller disco
Early last year, the debut A/W 2021 Bottega Veneta runway collection by creative director Daniel Lee had caught our sartorial eye, so much so that we awarded the Italian house's womenswear offering the Best Women’s Fashion Collection award in the the 2020 Wallpaper* Design Awards. The collection, which offered dressing for a new deade, featured new takes on the brand's Intrecciato weave, glamorous partywear and rebellious biker-centric accessories.
Fast forward to 2021. Here, Lee was fascinated by the concept of banal clothing items, and the act of transforming them into performative pieces using exuberant materials. For Pre-A/W 2021, cue dressing gown coats in eyecatching bottle-green faux fur, jeans festooned with feathers, and denim jackets shimmering with metal studs, column dresses in sparkling beads and body hugging boiler suits with zipped accents. He also applied the same sensibility to a pair of high-top trainers (pictured here in cobalt, but also available in grass, peachy and sea salt), which boast a speedy set of wheels. These are not just for the roller disco, but for day-to-night activities that require accelerated self-expression.
Fancy bypassing public transport and whizzing past those walking? Avoiding crowds by cruising right on by? Then we suggest you get your supremely chic skates on. For with optimism on the agenda, you need to ride off into the sunset in supersonic style.
