Hardy Amies S/S 2015

Hidden away amongst the cutting rooms and sumptuous salons of 8 Savile Row are the precious interior design archives of Sir Hardy Amies, which design director Mehmet Ali plumbed without hesitation for the house's S/S 2015 offer. Along with the seminal works of Amies' pal William Haines (he decorated Reagan's White House), those decorative 1970s interiors were referenced in everything from chequered grid print blazers and trim, chevron trousers to the colour palette awash with pale blues, minty green and a shocking sunny yellow. Accessories like light, woven scarves wrapped under peak lapels and suede espadrilles lent a decidedly dressed-down air to this collection, while a bonded cotton sailing coat was a nostalgic, nautical touch.
