Jil Sander S/S 2016
Mood board: The surfaces of the clothes were wiped clean at Jil Sander where creative director Rodolfo Paglialunga played with filmy suits crafted from crinkly rain-proof nylon and shiny slick patent leather. At the same time, there was an all-weather emergency vibe to the built-in zip back pockets, hoods and technical touches that made you feel you like wear these clothes on city bike or a mountain top hailstorm.
Best in show: Paglialunga played with jeans in a delicious way, slicing up ultra crispy navy blue denim and patching it back up with vibrant floral chinoiseries. It made for terrific looking trousers and jean jackets.
Finishing touches: For spring the Jil man has as many handbag options as any Sloane Ranger: floral sacks, bright shiny yellow totes, bulky handle bags and purses that looked like extra large, chocolate brown milk carton boxes.
