Diesel Black Gold S/S 2016
The denim giant imbued a street edge to workwear classics; leather overalls and apron-style dresses included
Mood board: A cavernous, crumbling raw industrial space does wonders to underscore a theme of workwear, which is what Diesel Black Gold did in spades this season. Of course, their girls wore their overalls in bad-ass black leather trimmed in black studs, while apron-style dresses were cut from crispy white cotton into asymmetrical lines with kerchief hems.
Best in show: This season was almost exclusively swathed in yards of monochromatic black, white and navy. The one flashy moment occurred in a graphic black and white Ikat-esque print that gave a cool tribal beat to cotton tunic dresses.
Finishing touches: There was not a high heel in the house. All purpose motorcycle boots were cropped right at the ankle and came gussied up in proper, polished black leather with multiple straps. Also noteworthy for the girl on-the-go was a new slip-on, rubber soled espadrille. Who needs a pair of stilettos anyway?
