Scene setting: There was a spiritual Tibetan aura to Tory Burch's S/S runway show. Staged at the David Koch theatre within Lincoln Centre, Burch installed a statuesque pair of weathered temple doors and a broken tile floor to enhance the sense of serenity already at the scene.

Mood board: The collection was focused on contrasts: tweed pencil skirts boasted soft frayed edges, guipure lace dresses were realised in eye-catching two tone hues, while pinstriped cotton tunics were adorned with vibrant embroidery and left cut open on both sides, perfect for layering with shorts. Cotton-linen jacquard kaftans (also fringed) were rustic, yet refined and joined graphically patterned trousers and shift dresses in being unexpected, but unconditionally Tory Burch.

Finishing touches: Accessories have always been an important facet of Burch's empire and this season's dramatic offering possessed an heirloom-like quality. Ornate chandelier earrings jostled with a slew of sculptural high heels for our attention. Inspired by a slice of natural bark, the shoes varied between textured, baroque heels and more minimal block ones that were paired with thin gold straps.
