How bazaar: La Double J and Dimore Studio’s pop-up sees modern in all things vintage
For those missing the melee of patterns and colours that are synonymous with Milan Fashion Week, never fear. A pop-up space envisioned by fashion brand La Double J (founded by our very own Italy editor-at-large JJ Martin) and interior design firm Dimore Studio is just the ticket.
The Teatro Bazaar brings a cacophony of print and colour to Galleria Manzoni, a historic shopping centre built in 1947. Building on the forties aesthetic, the collaborators have conjured a mysterious, low-lit space peppered with Dimore Studio’s decorative objects – such as marble, bamboo, ceramic and steel trays, ashtrays, and vases – which are displayed on pastel and glittery pedestals. A highway-like system of brass display rails showcases Edition 10, La Double J’s latest collection of vintage Mantero Seta prints, swathed across nylon windbreakers, shirt-dresses and velvet dresses.
Just like La Double J’s peacock print or retro floral velvet dresses, Teatro Bazaar envelops you within its furnishings. Walls and windows are decked out in ‘Brown Click’, a graphic vintage pattern selected by Dimore Studio, while the floors are carpeted in rich pastel tones. Also available to purchase are a selection of glittering vintage costume jewellery, an Aesop home spray with a Dimore Studio-designed pouch, and La Double J Housewives’ selection of bright, patterned homeware. Whatever the occasion, you’ll always have a morsel of Milan to take home with you.
INFORMATION
Teatro Bazaar is open until 30 September. For more information, visit the La DoubleJ website and the Dimore Studio website
