Viktor & Rolf’s operatic excursion, Baden-Baden
Ever pushing those fashion boundaries, Viktor & Rolf have long stretched their output to every corner of the creative spectrum.
This month the pair turn to Opera, dressing performers for a production of Carl Maria von Weber’s, Der Freischütz.

Visionary director Robert Wilson will, on the 30th May, present his interpretation of Weber’s seminal work in Germany’s largest opera house, the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden.
Only the second time Viktor & Rolf take to the stage, the first was five year's ago with the costume design for Wilson's production of ‘2 Lips and Dancers and Space’ performed in Holland, this theatrical collaboration looks set to create a similar stir.
A camptastic menagerie of architectonic shapes, blocky comic colours and sexed-up materials (think organza, silk, satin and lurex), the show does well to displace any operatic misconceptions of corpulent caterwaulers and teary-eyed Italians.
Soloists will be studded with over a million Swarovski crystals, whilst choir members (in a culture-appropriate twist) will be decked in black neoprene lederhosen.
