Scene Setting: The area surrounding Madison Square Garden in Manhattan is not what you would call a charming place, but a forgotten building in its shadow proved to be a fitting venue for the rising design brand, Sies Marjan. Set on an austere, concrete column-filled floor, designer Sander Lak dreamt up a prismatic light installation that morphed and collided together to match his holographic collection, which cut through the dull interior like a knife.

Mood Board: Colour has quickly become Lak’s calling card and with this latest collection, he easily surpassed expectation. Dream-like mixes of ice blue, peach and lemon, were as alluring as muddled shades of dusty blue, mint and sunflower. Light and whimsical, but never frivolous, the alchemic combinations came together as ombréd dresses, degradé fur coats and gathered tulle overlays on iridescent satin that caught the eye in the most pleasing way.

Best in Show: A series of dresses that featured sculptural pleating and draping were especially alluring. Cascading with a freeness of hand and an affinity to the body, these delicate garments struck an ideal balance of being easy to wear while also packing a visual punch.
