Washing one’s hair sans shampoo might be all the rage these days, but for those who just can’t bear the thought of not using a cleanser, Reverie offers a happy medium. The Californian haircare range, founded by hair stylist Garrett Markenson, comes armed with an honest, transparent policy supported by hard-hitting chemistry.
Granted that Reverie’s androgynous, black and white packaging is what first caught our eye, each product’s content, which is made from selectively combining sustainable botanical ingredients with scientific ones, is just as impressive. In its 'Nude' shampoo and conditioner, Reverie hydrates and nourishes hair with zinc, sweet almond oil, acai oil and alpha amino acids, while promoting restoration. Its 'Cake' growth serum restores hair and the scalp with apple stem cells and hydrolised protein from the sweet white lupine plant, which has regenerative qualities. 'Milk', its nourishing leave-in treatment, is lightweight, but moisturises and protects hair while taming frizz. The brand has just launched its fifth product, 'Rake', a styling balm that’s infused with mango nut butter, pomegranate oil and meadowfoam oil that imparts structure to hair.
All of Reverie’s products are scented with a blend of essential oils. They also exclude lauryl sulphate, glycols, petrochemicals, animal derivatives, synthetic colors, silicones and parabens. Handcrafted in small batches, Reverie’s minimalist attitude truly works.
