Pick up a picnic: Melrose and Morgan perfects alfresco summer lunching
London's favourite local grocer, Melrose and Morgan, is taking advantage of ad hoc sunny moments by unveiling its new picnic carry case, giving the classic hamper a modern overhaul. The 'Pic Mix and Match', a white cardboard case emblazoned with the grocer's tomato-red logo, will help discerning picnickers transport their lunch in style.
Featuring five set food boards – cheese, fish, meat, dessert, and vegetarian – the carry cases are constructed from food grade cardboard and filled with decadent treats: from Hampshire baby buffalo brie, homemade piccalilli and Sally Clarke oatcakes; to smoked trout pâté on crispbreads with cornichons; and charcuterie accompanied by Melrose and Morgan's classic potato salad and caperberries.
The vegetarian board comes with a choice of two handmade savoury tarts in flavours including: pea, mint and goats cheese; leek, lemon and feta; or tomato, courgette and Berkswell cheese. (Not to mention the extra hummous and crudités with Brindisa gordal olives.)
For afters, the set includes a selection of classic summer desserts, allowing you to create your own bespoke spread. Summer berry jelly, strawberry trifle, lemon or chocolate mousse, a bar of Melrose and Morgan's artisan chocolate, and a punnet of berries are all included – ideal for a quintessentially indulgent picnic in the sun with friends or family.
Carry the 'Pic Mix and Match' to the races, Wimbledon or one of Melrose and Morgan's favourite London picnic spots (which can be found via the included maps). Should any clouds make an unwelcome (inevitable) appearance, the trusty rain macs – also included with the carry case – will help keep you dry, and your spirits up.
