El Lodge — Granada, Spain
M.C. Hotels, the group behind swanky beach resorts Puente Romano and the Marbella Club are back, this time with a winter retreat set amongst the dramatic Sierra Nevada mountains, about an hour from the Spanish city of Granada.
In contrast to the the rugged landscape outside, the interiors of El Lodge - by British designer Andrew Martin - are smooth and graceful; untreated Finnish wood sets a rustic tone that is balanced with sleek Nordic furnishings, rich leathers and cosy furs in a neutral colour palette of mushroom browns and toasty greys.
The 20 guest rooms - 12 of which are suites - are arranged over three storeys with the 1st floor leading directly onto the deck with an open-air heated pool, a large sauna and a Finnish hot tub. We suggest plumping for a suite on one of the floors above- each with its own terrace and private Jacuzzi, they make the perfect spot to soak up the majestic vistas while sipping on a chilled glass of cava.
