Curtain Hotel — London, UK
Combining 120 rooms, a members’ club, a 24-hour gym and a rooftop restaurant and pool, The Curtain is more a lifestyle hub than your average hotel. Based on a NY-LON concept, the property has artwork by British rock ‘n’ roll photographer Mick Rock lining the walls of Big Apple imports such as Marcus Samuelsson’s soul food mecca, Red Rooster, and a CBGB-inspired live performance space.
Dallas-based firm Duncan Miller Ullmann offers a polished riff on the location’s rough edges, with rich green chesterfield sofas pushed back against exposed brick walls and black-framed factory windows completing a modern industrial aesthetic that could equally belong to Brooklyn.
With yoga and Boom Cycle classes offered, a wellness area and a soon to launch members only workspace, The Curtain’s arrival presents one more reason why Shoreditch truly is the capital of East London.
