The Miami Beach Edition — Miami, USA
There is no slowing the momentum that Ian Schrager has built up for Edition Hotels. Despite competing with a number of well-known hotel brands that opened their doors in Miami this year, the new Edition has a unique pitch, thanks to Schrager’s considered touches. Like its London and Istanbul siblings, the hotel pulls together the best of what its home town has to offer. It occupies the former Seville Hotel, a landmark 1950s building that has been adapted by Yabu Pushelberg, along with a new tower, together offering 294 rooms, suites and bungalows and 26 John Pawson-designed private residences. There are two pools, with bars and cabanas, a nightclub, a bowling alley, a year-round ice-skating rink, an open-air movie theatre and a new restaurant from French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The hotel offers 70,000 sq ft of beachfront, and guests can enjoy ocean views from the Lobby Bar.
