Christie’s unites with digital jewellery retailer Latest Revival on a collection of one-of-a-kind masterpieces
Jewellery auctions have long purveyed an unattainable level of fantasy, but Christie's newest initiative, Christie's Curated by Latest Revival, is taking a different stand. In partnership with the digital fine jewellery retailer, Latest Revival, Christie's has released a seven-piece collection of one-of-a-kind pieces for sale online today. Designed by the industry's most exciting contemporary names and spanning a price range of $3,000-$132,680, the stunning collection marks the debut of a new series of curated e-commerce sales from Christie's.
Although more accessible, Christie's Curated by Latest Revival still makes a strong case for viewing jewellery as art. Under the direction of Latest Revival's founder/CEO Dalia Oberlander, who previously spent time in Sotheby's contemporary art and jewellery departments, the one-off collection features collectible treasures by designers like Completed Works, Deborah Pagani and Wallpaper* Design Awards 2015 winner Monique Pean, who each perpetuates a unique point of view.
Highlights include a marble and diamond cocktail ring by British label Completed Works. Crafted from pink Breccia di Massa marble, 18 carat gold vines and circular cut diamonds, the bespoke ring evokes an ancient architectural ruin being overwhelmed by vines. On the more classic end, but equally as dramatic are the black and white diamond chandelier earrings designed by New York-based designer Deborah Pagani.
The sale's top lot comes from the sustainably minded Monique Pean: an 18 carat recycled white gold necklace adorned with 24.06 carats of pear-shaped, rose cut diamonds, being sold for $132,680. Keeping the notion of art jewellery front of mind, each piece is accompanied by a intricate sketch, signed by the designer.
